Mr. and Mrs. Ansel Messer, Unity, announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbara Jean, to Robert E. Bearden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bearden, Madison.

Miss Messer is a 1969 graduate of Colby High School and will graduate in May 1973 from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. Her fiancé is a 1968 graduate of La Follette High School, Madison, and a 1972 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. He is presently teaching at Wauwatosa East High School.

Both are members of Pi Kappa Delta National Honorary Forensics Fraternity.

An Easter wedding is being planned.
