Greene, Elma (16 July 1895 – 21 November 1978)
Born in Illinois but a Town of Fremont resident for nearly 50 years, Elma
Greene, 83, was buried in that township after funeral services, Friday, November
24. With the Rev. Frank Hinebaugh officiating, services were held from the Chili
United Methodist Church. The Gilbertson Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Mrs. Greene passed away at 5:30 a.m., November 21, in Neillsville Memorial
Hospital. She was born on July 16, 1895, in Woodstock, Ill. It was there in
early 1917, that she married Russell Greene. The couple moved to Clark County in
1929.
Surviving Mrs. Greene are four sons, Charles of La Crosse, James of Dodgeville,
Wayne of Marshfield and Gerald of Nekoosa: five daughters, Mrs. Richard (Elaine)
Welter of Maple Park, Ill., Mrs. Mary Thomson of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Walter
(Jean) Schanke of Carson City, Calif., Mrs, Harry (Helen) Lengas of Holden,
Mass., and Gladys Greene of Los Angeles, Calif.; and 21 grandchildren. Preceding
her in death was her husband, who died on December 19, 1962.
