Miller, Elmer (10 June 1924 – 3 February 1979) With Flag

Elmer Miller, 54, Rt. 3 Greenwood, died February 3 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. He was born June 10, 1924, in Withee to the late Carl and Ella Miller. He received his education in the rural schools in the Town of Reseburg. He was married to Iris Gorsegner, August 20, 1951, in Withee.

Miller had driven a bulldozer in heavy construction since 1955 and was employed by Boon Brothers Construction in Greenwood the past two years. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors besides his mother are two sons, Vernon and Raymond, both of Rt. 3 Greenwood; three brothers, Edward, of Rt. 1 Loyal, and Ervin and Andrew of Rt. 1 Withee; one sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Geraldine) Baer, Altoona and one grandchild. Preceding him in death was his wife, who died September 4, 1974.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 5, from Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Sam Kochel officiated, and burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. The Congregation sang “How Great Thou Art,” with Mrs. Don Warner as organist. Pallbearers were James, Charles, Allan and Eugene Steffen and Mike and Pat Vetterkind. The Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.
