Roesler, William (1896? – 30 Dec 1972)

William Roesler, 76, passed away December 30, 1972.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 2, 1973 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Robert Olson officiating. Burial was made in Sylvan Cemetery, Reseburg Township.

Roesler, William E. (24 Feb 1896 – 30 Dec 1972)

William E. Roesler was born February 24, 1896 to Charles and Mary Roesler in the town of Reseburg (Clark Co.). He was educated in the Gulf school district. July 1918 he was called to serve his country in World War I. After returning from service he helped make cheese for the Ehlert brothers. Later he bought a farm in the town of Reseburg. Her he farmed for many years.

Due to poor health he was forced to sell his farm. He moved to Thorp until about two and a half years ago, when he went to the Veterans Hospital at Tomah, Wisconsin. Here he lived until December 30th, 1972, when he passed away with pneumonia.

Bill, as he always was called, never married. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Cecil Tormey Post No. 118. The funeral services for William Roesler were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Tuesday afternoon, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Olson officiating. He was laid to rest in the Sylvan Cemetery at Reseburg.

American Legion conducted military rites for William Roesler.

His parents and one brother preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his loss, one brother, Hugo Roesler, Thorp, Wisconsin, and five sisters: Mrs. Hans (Clara) Knutson, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Mrs. Ferd (Orlena) Sprengler of Dorchester, Wisconsin; Mrs. John (Gertrude) Barth; Mrs. Helma Ramberg, and Mrs. Rueben (Mary) Rossman, all of Thorp, Wisconsin.
