Sliva, Katherine (12 May 1886 – 8 Jan 1973)
Mrs. Katherine Sliva, age 81, resident of route 2, Thorp, Town of Thorp, died
January 8, 1973 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley.
She was born in Poland May 12, 1886, and came to the U.S. when she was a young
girl. In 1904 she was united in marriage to John Sliva, and they came to the
Town of Thorp in 1916, where they farmed for many years, and have lived since.
She lived there until 1967 when she became a resident of the Victory Memorial
Nursing Home, where she has lived since.
She is survived by her husband, John, Route 2, Thorp; one son, John Jr. of Route
2, Thorp; three daughters, Mrs. John (Bernice) Laboda of Bensonville, Illinois,
Mrs. Anthony (Anna) Bytnar of Chicago, and Mrs. Mary Zahorski of Hoffman
Estates, Illinois; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. January 10 at St. Mary’s National Catholic
Church in Lublin, Wisconsin, with Father Thomas Falkowski officiating. Burial
was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bloomer.
