Three At Camp, Handicapped (1979)
Thirteen to 17-year-olds from around the state, including three from Clark
County, are camping out, horseback riding, swimming, canoeing and practicing
archery skills in the Wisconsin Dells. Not unusual, except that they are all
handicapped, and the place they are doing all these things-and much more-is the
Easter Seal Center or Camping and Recreation, operated by the Easter Seal
Society of Wisconsin.
The Center, made up of Easter Seals Camp Wawbeek and Easter Seals’ Pioneer Camp,
serves hundreds of orthopedically handicapped children and adults each summer.
Attending Camp Wawbeek from Clark County are Gregory Crandall, 16, Rt. 2
Greenwood and Brian Jennings, 13, Rt. 1 Chili. And attending Pioneer Camp is
Jeffrey Schnabel, 15, Rt. 3 Greenwood.
