On April 3, 1972 2/Lt. Nile A Newburn entered undergraduate pilot training at
Webb AFB, Big Spring, Texas. His wife, Diane, pinned his silver Air Force Wings
on his uniform. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clem Ogurek of Abbotsford
and granddaughter of Al Ogurek of Thorp. Lt. Newburn will go on to advanced
pilot training in the F100 aircraft at Tucson, Arizona. Upon completion of
combat crew training, Lt. Newburn will be assigned to the 185th Tactical fighter
group, Iowa A.N.G., Sioux City, Iowa, where he and his wife will make their
home.
