Loren C. Wayne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wayne of Stanley, became the
bride of Donald E. Pawlak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Pawlak of Thorp, in a
double ring ceremony performed Saturday, march 24, 1973 at 1:30 p.m.
Scene of the wedding rites performed by Father Will Grelle, was St. Hedwig’s
Catholic Chapel in Thorp.
The bride wore a floor length grown of sheer organza over taffeta, which
featured a Victorian neckline, long sleeves, and empire waist. The lace that
adorned the bodice was featured on the long flowing train. Her bouffant veil of
tulle was secured to a pearl bow. She carried a colonial bouquet of white roses
and blue carnations, sprinkled with baby’s breath.
Patty Burzynski of Thorp was maid of honor, and Sheryl Szczygiel of Bensenville,
Illinois, was bridesmaid. They wore floor length gowns of blue sheer organza and
blue and white flowered ribbons in their hair. They carried nosegay bouquet of
purple and blue carnations and mums.
Peggy Burzynski and Nancy Pawlak, both of Thorp, were flower girls, attired in
gowns and headpieces similar to that of the bridesmaids’. They carried white
baskets of assorted flowers.
Richard Boyarski of Thorp attended the groom as best man. Dennis Bonczyk of Glen
Ellyn, Illinois, was groomsman. Phil Zasacki of Thorp and Buzz Zais of La Crosse
ushered.
Hollis Zais, sister of the bride, sang “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”,
before the Mass. During the ceremony, Diane Mamayek sang “I Was Born In Love
With You,” “Speak Softly Love, “Sunrise Sunset”, and “Wedding Song.” Roxanne
Schenzel was her accompanist.
The reception was held at the American Legion Hall immediately following the
ceremony. Syl Mamayek served as hostess. The three-tier cake was served to 150
guests by Peggy Taylor and Cathy Rust, friends of the bride. The Mike Briski
band provided music for the evening.
Out of town relatives and friends were present from Prairie View, Bensenville,
Westmont and Glen Ellyn, Illinois; Minneapolis and Jordan, Minnesota; Steven
Point, La Crosse, Hayward, Eau Claire, Stanley, and Owen, Wisconsin.
Following a trip to La Crosse and northern Wisconsin, the couple have made their
home near Withee, Wisconsin.
