St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Thorp served as the site for the Saturday
afternoon, May 12, wedding of Patricia Ann Palms, Greenwood, to James Roger
Briski, Rt. 3 Greenwood. The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Palms,
Thorp, and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Briski, Greenwood.
With the Rev. Robert Olson officiating. “The Wedding March,” “The Wedding Song,”
and “Follow Me” were offered for musical selections.
The bride chose a white organza gown with bishop sleeves of Chantilly lace, a
bodice covered with similar lace and pearls and a neckline with Brussel’s lace.
The skirt had appliques of Chantilly lace as did the hem and train. She carried
a bouquet of red tea roses, white carnations and baby’s breath.
Valorie Palms, a sister of the bride from Greenwood, was maid of honor. She was
joined by Debra Palms, sister-in-law of the bride from Greenwood; Lucia Palms,
sister from Thorp; and Lu Ann Gagnon, a friend from Milwaukee. Two of the gowns
were maroon and two dark green with all featuring, spaghetti straps and jackets
with long sleeves, trimmed with dark feathers. They carried pink and green
daisies, white carnations and baby’s breath bouquets.
Harold Briski, a brother of the groom from Racine, was bestman. He was joined by
Rod Ashbeck, a friend of the groom from Greenwood; David Palms, a brother of the
bride from Owen; and Robert Briski, a brother from Thorp. Ushering were Kenneth
Palms, a brother of the bride from Milwaukee, and Robert Briski, a brother of
the groom from Pine City, Mn.
The junior bridesmaids were Tina Palms, a sister of the bride from Thorp, and
Sandra Block, niece of the bride from Las Vegas, Nev. They carried ring pillows
of white satin, trimmed with lace.
Following the services, a reception was held at the Quonset Hall, rural Thorp.
The bride is a high school graduate and recently completed studies at District I
Technical Institute, Eau Claire. She is a licensed practical nurse. The groom is
a graduate of Greenwood High School, also attended the same technical institute
and is employed as a mechanic at Midway Auto, Owen. The couple will make their
home in Greenwood.
