Teeples, Nellie Hazel (3 March 1895 - 3 June 1979)
Mrs. Oscar Teeples, 84, of Hatfield, died Sunday afternoon, June 3, at the Pine
View Nursing Home, Black River Falls. The former Nellie Hazel Flood was born on
March 3, 1895, in Cadott to Andrew and Nasida (Fowler) Flood. She moved with her
family, at an early age, to the Halcyon area of Jackson County where she was
raised and attended the Halcyon School.
She married Oscar Teeples on May 28, 1913, at Wrightsville. The couple lived in
Hatfield all their married lives. Mrs. Teeples operated a store and restaurant,
known as the Hatfield Country Store, for many years. She also cooked for the
Mississippi Valley Public Service Company officials for many years.
She was a member and past president of the Thompson-Redcloud VFW Post Auxiliary
of Black River Falls; a 50-year member of the Black River Chapter No. 106, Order
of the Eastern Star; and member of the Hatfield Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar, of Hatfield; a son, Robert, of Black River
Falls; a daughter, Violet Teeples, Hatfield; four grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; and a brother, Loyal Flood, Humbird. She was preceded in
death by three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Merrillan United Methodist
Church with the Rev. Calvin Carey officiating. Burial was in the Hatfield
Cemetery. Pallbearers were John, Tom, David and Bill Teeples, Mickey Olson, and
Richard Flood. The Charles Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, was in
charge of arrangements.
