Kozenka, John A. (21 Jul 1896 – 2 May 1973)
John A. Kozenka, 76, died at his home in the city of Thorp of an apparent heart
attack on Wednesday, May 2, 1973. Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s
Chapel on Saturday, May 5th, 10:30 a.m., with Father John Puerner officiating.
Interment was made in New St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Kenneth Michur, Melvin Bartosiewicz, Maurice Okonski, Robert,
William and Gary Kozenka.
Mr. Kozenka was born July 21, 1896 in Poland. He came to the states in 1913,
coming to the Thorp area, where he farmed. On July 19, 1919 he was united in
marriage to Josie Norysewicz at St. Hedwig’s Church, Thorp.
Surviving are his wife Josie; one son, Joseph, of Thorp, and one daughter,
(Sophia) Mrs. Ed Michur, Thorp; two brothers, Hipolit Kozenka of Union, New
Jersey, Bernie Kozenka of Poland; one sister in Poland and seven grandchildren.
