Clarence W. Ruff, Thorp, La Crosse Diocese, was among six persons who received
the Dr. C. W. Henney Medallion Award at the Wisconsin Knights of Columbus
Convention in Wausau Sunday.
Ruff helped organize Queen of Peace Council 4634 of Thorp in 1958. He has held
several council offices, been chairman of most annual fund-raising activities
and served as District Warden and State Committee member of the state
convention.
In 1972 he was named “Knight of the Year” by his council. In 1968 he was named
“Citizen of the Year” in Thorp. He served as Holy Name Society President for
four years, is a Church Council Trustee, and has been active in Scouting, Fire
Department, Red Cross, and is treasurer of the Housing Authority.
Each year the KC’s honor six men for their distinguished service to Columbianism,
the Catholic Church, and their home communities.
