The following Thorp students were awarded honors at the Honors Day program at
UW-River Falls:
- Candace Horn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Horn, 302 W. Hill, was awarded
the Music Faculty Scholarship, established by music faculty to be given to
outstanding music majors.
- Jeanie Maslowski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Maslowski, Route 2, was
awarded Freshman Honors and the Business and Professional Women’s Club
Scholarship, awarded to a freshman girl who is outstanding in scholarship,
leadership and character.
- John Nied, son of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Nied, Route 3, was awarded Freshman Honors
and the 3M Research Scholarship, awarded to chemistry majors who have high
scholastic standing.
