The Hewlett Packard Fellowship in Surveying and Geodesy provides a $2,000 award
to an individual for graduate study in surveying, geodesy or a related field.
The fellowship’s first recipient, Terrence J. Keating, Thorp, of the University
of Wisconsin, was named at the Joint American Congress on Surveying and Mapping,
and American Society of Photogrammetry meeting in Washington, D.C. in March.
He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1971 and his M.S. in Civil
Engineering in 1972, both from the University of Wisconsin. He received the Ray
and Theo Owen Award, a scholarship for excellence in Civil Engineering, during
his senior year. Terry has held several interesting positions during his
graduate school career. Two years ago, he was a research specialist with the
NASA funded Remote Sensing Program, studying photographic and thermal imagery.
Last years he was a research assistant with the Sea Gran Program of the
University of Wisconsin.
