Neal Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Schmidt of Thorp has been promoted to the position of Director of Manufacturing of Thuran Industries, Inc. of Dallas, Texas. Thuran is an insecticide – pesticide manufacturing company employing approximately 200 people.

In his new role as Director of Manufacturing, Neal is responsible for approximately 150 employees in the quality control, engineering, materials control, purchasing and manufacturing areas.

After receiving his B. A. Degree at Wisconsin State University, Eau Claire, Neal attended a one year management school in Saranac Lake, New York. In Dallas he received his Master’s Degree from North Texas State University night school.

Neal began work at Thuran as a Production Planner, then was assigned to the Material Controls Manager position. Three years later he served as Assistant to the President, after which he headed a new department, marketing Services. He held this until his promotion to Director of Manufacturing.
