Statz, Mr. and Mrs. Max (60th – 17 June 1979)
Mr. and Mrs. Max Statz, Neillsville, were honored for their 60th wedding
anniversary at a special mass, Sunday morning, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
The immediate family gathered for dinner and afternoon festivities. A large
anniversary cake was decorated with diamond-like bells and pansies.
Max was born on December 24, 1891, in Waunakee to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Statz. He
was educated in that community and later moved to Alma Center area.
Mrs. Statz, the former Theresa Langreck, was born on December 31, 1898, in St.
Lucas, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. John Langreck. After her education there, she moved
with the Langreck family to Neillsville. Prior to her marriage, she as employed
in Eau Claire.
The couple was married on June 17, 1919, in St. Mary’s. They farmed in the Alma
Center area and in 1937, purchased a Town of Weston farm where they farmed until
retiring in 1958 and moved into Neillsville. Max and Theresa are active members
of St. Mary’s parish and also enjoy gardening.
They have four children, including Edmund of Rt. 3 Neillsville, Mrs. Wayne
(Leona) Kraemer of Marshfield, Mrs. Verland (Dolores) Schmidt of Neillsville and
Anton of Wisconsin Rapids. The celebrants also have 26 grandchildren and ten
great-grandchildren.
