JOHN G. "JACK" ZIMMER, age 92, of Greenwood, passed away on Tuesday, September
14, 2021, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, with family by his side.
John Gordon Zimmer was born on June 20, 1929, in Thorp, the son of John E. and
Ruth M. (Steele) Zimmer. At the age of 9, his family moved to the Town of
Warner, rural Greenwood, where he was raised on a farm and attended Benjamin
School. He farmed with his parents on the family farm until age 18, at which
time he began hauling canned milk. Jack was united in marriage to Carol Wolske
on February 25, 1956, at Grace United Methodist Church in Greenwood. In 1957, he
bought his own milk route and became owner/operator of Zimmer Trucking until
1994 when he sold the business to his sons, Joel and Scott. Jack continued
working for his sons part-time until fully retiring from hauling milk in 1998.
He had many interests but especially enjoyed being with his children and
grandchildren, gardening, and working outdoors.
Jack was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and later Immanuel United
Church of Christ.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 65 years, Carol, of Greenwood; 7
children: John (Jo-Ann) of Colorado Springs, CO, Joel of Greenwood, Randall of
