Found dead in automobile

Lois Dering, 56, Spencer, was found dead in his automobile on a Spencer street about 10:30 p.m. Thursday. He died of an apparent heart attack.

At 7 p.m. Helmuth Manigal, according to the sheriff’s office, saw an automobile slow down, roll onto his lawn and then roll back into the street. Manigal was sitting on the porch of his home. He said he saw a man slump to the seat, but didn’t investigate.

About 10:30 he was playing cards with friends and mentioned the incident. They investigated and found Dering’s body.

Louis Dering, 55

Spencer – Louis Dering, 55 Spencer, was pronounced dead of an apparent heart attack on arrival at 10:55 p.m. Thursday at St, Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Holmes, Marshfield, officiating. Burial will be made in the West Spencer cemetery.

Friends may call at the Jasperson Funeral Home beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday, and then at the church.

Mr. Dering was born Nov. 16, 1914, in Prentice, where he also received his education. He was married at Ogema Oct. 11, 1936, to Verna Ecke. For the past 11 years he had been employed as a chief mechanic and bus driver for Rue Burnett. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis and Larry Dering, both of Wausau; three brothers, Clarence and Albert, both of Prentice; and Charles, Engelwood, Fla.
