Grottke, Arnold (22 April 1913 - 8 August 1979)

Arnold Grottke, 66, a native of the Town of Grant, passed away August 8, after a lingering illness. For the past five years, he had been a resident of Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster.

Mr. Grottke was born on April 22, 1913, in the Town of Grant to Ernest and Anna (Scharf) Grottke. After receiving his education in Neillsville, he worked for the American Stores Dairies in that in Neillsville for many years. Later in his life, he moved to Platteville and worked on bride construction jobs throughout the state.

Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Janice) Ehlers of Green Bay and Mrs. Dennis (Linda) Evanson of Wausau; one sister, Mrs. Faune (Ida) Durni of Hatfield; two brothers, Herbert of Hatfield and Ben of Marshfield, and four grandchildren. Preceding him in death were three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held on Saturday morning, August 11, from the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Karen Forde was the vocalist, accompanied by Elaine Smith. The Rev. Paul Forde of Calvary Lutheran Church officiated with burial in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Fred Stelter, Emil Hauri, Herb Schnabel, Roger Grottke, Glen Suckow and Orville Jake.
