Steffen, Edward M. (28 October 1913 – 4 August 1979)
Edward M. Steffen, 66, Withee, died Satruday, August 4, in St, Joseph’s
Hospital, Marshfield. He was admitted there earlier in the day.
He was born October 28, 1913, in Milwaukee. He received his education in
Greenwood Schools. He farmed in the Town of Warner until 1929 and then lived in
Milwaukee and Minnesota for a time prior to coming to Withee two years ago. He
had operated an auto repair services in Waukegan, Ill., for 20 years. He was a
World War II veteran. He was married July 6, 1973. in Alters, Oklahoma, to Helen
Hemmersbach.
Besides his wife as a survivor are two sons, Robert of Schaumberg, Ill., and
Gary of Waukegan, a daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Patricia) Holtzinger, Peoria, Ill., a
brother, Gerald Steffen, Greenwood, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 7, from the Maurina funeral Home,
Owen. Burial was made at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greenwood. The Rev.
Richard L. Fliss, pastor of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, officiated.
Pallbearers were larry Dallman, Al, Jim, Charles and Eugene Steffen and Kevin
Thorson.
