Optometrists Training (UW-Madison - 1979)
Two Neillsville optometrists have successfully completed an examination by the
Wisconsin State Board of Regulation and licensing, certifying them for the use
of topical diagnostic drugs. They are Doctor John W. Foster and Dr. R. Tim
Harvey.
Together with optometrists throughout Wisconsin, they have completed
comprehensive studies in relation to general and clinical pharmacology through
UW-Madison in cooperation with both the School of Medicine and the School of
Pharmacology. Ohio State University and Indiana University School of Optometry
also provided professional assistance.
The Wisconsin Optometric Association views this as an additional effort by
optometrists to provide optimum vision care by enhancing abilities to diagnose
visual conditions and eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma and tumors. In
addition, drugs ae useful in helping to recognize systemic abnormalities, such
as diabetes and hypertension, which also may be detected through an eye
examination.
