Brats, Hot Dogs and Smiles (2021)
Volunteers helped raise money through a brat fry and hot dog stand outside
Russell’s of Neillsville Aug. 20 for Smiling for Samuel, a local non-profit
started by Sierra Strangfeld to help support families who suffer infant loss,
particularly loss through Trisomy 18. Trisomy 18 is caused by an extra
chromosome 18, which can result in low birth weight, an abnormally shaped head
or other birth defects. It often results in stillbirth or the early death of an
infant. Sierra Strangfeld started Smiling for Samuel after losing her infant son
Samuel due to Trisomy 18. People could buy a hot dog or brat, along with chips
and a drink for the fundraiser. Or people could simply put money in a donation
jar.
Smiling for Samuel volunteers for at the brat fry and hot dog stand were (front,

Trojan, Rex Roehl, and (standing) Danielle Graham, Lee Strangfeld, Melissa
Coulthard, Caty Genteman and Sara Susa. (Mike Coulthard did the grilling) Ryan
