Wessel, Emmett D. (18 August 1948 – 26 September 2021)

Emmett D. Wessel, 73 of Sheboygan passed away Sunday September 26, 2021, with his family at his side following a short battle with cancer.

Emmett was born on August 18, 1948, in Greenwood to the late Adolph and Lorinda (Horn) Wessel. He attended Greenwood schools and excelled in Basketball earning recognition as one of the best in his conference and interest from some college programs. He graduated High School in 1966 and decided to pursue studies in what was then a relatively new field; computer sciences; at Wausau Technical Institute. Following his graduation, he worked for Allen Bradley in Milwaukee before moving to Sheboygan to work for Heritage Insurance. He began working for Strategic Data Systems in 1984 and was proud of the contributions he made to S.D.S.'s growth. He finished his career with Rockford Mutual as a Senior Software Consultant before his retirement in 2011.

In retirement, Emmett enjoyed traveling with his wife of 28 years Kathy and they enjoyed many trips together. He also very much enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing in northern Wisconsin with his sons, grandchildren, and, more recently his great-grandchildren. Even though he was ill, he was motivated to make the family's annual fishing trip to St. Germain this August. He also loved football and of course the Packers. This will mark the first year since 1984 he will not be participating in the Football Prognostication Contest having won the vaunted Bean Pot Trophy 6 times.

Emmett is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Haack – Zeinemann), son Bradley (Amy) Wessel of Sheboygan, stepsons William (Sally) Zeinemann of Middleton and Robert (Rachael Wyman) Zeinemann of Seattle, grandchildren Brianna Coldren, Mackenzie Casper, Hunter Wessel, Lincoln Wessel, Grayson Wessel, Amalia Zeinemann, Nicholas Zeinemann, and Asa Zeinemann along with great grandchildren Ryder, Ashton, Rosalina, Joshua and Amari. He is further survived by his brother Everett (Ellen) Wessel, his brother-in-law Tom Mohr, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Emmett's life to be held on Saturday, November 6th at Nourish, 100 Alfred Miley Ave, Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085. Please join us to eat, drink, laugh, and celebrate a great man anytime between 1:00 and 5:00.

A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Sharon Richardson hospice for making Emmett's final weeks as comfortable as possible. The kindness and compassion you gave to both him and the family is very much appreciated.
