Kupke, Carl A. (25 June 1890 – 28 September 1979)
Funeral services were held early Monday afternoon, October 1, from the Gesche
Funeral Home in Neillsville for Carl A. (Charlie) Kupke, 89, Rt. 3 Neillsville,
who passed away September 28 in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Kupke died after an
illness of four weeks.
He was born on June 25, 1890, in the Town of York to Carl and Anna (Gabriel)
Kupke. After his education, he worked in area logging camps and later was a
farmer in the Town of York. He was also a blacksmith for many years. In October
of 1931, he married Margaret Becher in Milwaukee, ceremonies.
Surviving him, besides his wife, is one daughter, Mrs. Russell (Arlene)
Schnabel, Neillsville; three stepsons, Clarence Becker, Neillsville, Harold
Becker, Marshfield and John Becker of Somerville, Mass; sixteen grandchildren,
and many great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were two sisters and one
stepdaughter.
The Rev. Horst Augustin, Granton, officiated at the services with burial in the
Neillsville City Cemetery. Music was provided by Deon Spangler. Serving as
pallbearers were Harold Milbreit, Joseph Schmidt, Harold Embke, Gust DeMert,
Alvin Lavene and Donald Pflughoeft.
Attending the services were relatives and friends from Marshfield, Wis. Rapids,
Greenfield, Black River Falls, Mondovi, Chippewa Falls, from the Chicago area
and from Somerville, Massachusetts.
