Yartz, Mary (11 January 1886 – 24 September 1979)
Mary Yartz, 93, Greenwood, died September 24 at Memorial Home in Neillsville.
Mary Sigler was born January 11, 1886, in Europe. She attended school in West
Mineral, Kansas and was married to Joseph Yartz in 1903. After their marriage
they lived in Frontenac, Kansas, until 1913, when they moved to the Greenwood
area, where they farmed until 1946. She then moved to the city of Greenwood and
lived with her foster son, Stanley Raik. She was a member of K.S.K.J. Lodge at
Willard.
Surviving her are two sisters, Mrs. John (Anna) Kapler of Baxter Springs,
Kansas, and Mrs. Frances Saporito of Pittsburg, Kansas. Her husband preceded her
in death in 1935, and she also was preceded in death by two sisters and two
brothers.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 27, at Holy Family Catholic
Church in Willard with the Rev. James Lesczynski officiating. Pallbearers were
Richard and Edward Yurkovich, Charles Herrick, Frank Pekol, Frank Lamovec and
Tony Gosar, Sr. The Rinka Funeral Home of Greenwood was in charge of
arrangements.
