Mews, Dolores M. (May 1926 – 2 Oct 2021)
Dolores Mae (Knapp) Mews, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother,
great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, was met by the loving arms of our
heavenly Father on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, in Wisconsin Rapids, at the age of
95. Join us in celebrating a life well-lived and an eternal life well-deserved.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 8, at United Methodist Church
in Loyal. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 7, also at United
Methodist Church, and from 10-11 a.m. prior to services on Friday.
Dolores Knapp was born in Ontario, Vernon County, to Leonard & Clara Knapp, in
May 1926. She graduated from Marshfield High School in 1944. She was united in
marriage to Harvey Frank Mews Sr. on June 29, 1944, in Marshfield. Together they
had 11 children. They operated family dairy farms in both the Pittsville and
Loyal area. Dolores was a dedicated housewife and mother and when her children
were raised, she began sharing her amazing gift as a cook by working at the
Village Plaza in Spencer, the Amber Inn in Loyal, and Fannie’s Supper Club in
Neillsville. She had many hobbies, and really loved crafting, crocheting,
knitting, and bowling. Spending time with her family was also something she
loved, and you could always find her playing cards or games and filling the room
with laughter. Dolores was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in
Loyal.
Dolores is survived by her 11 children: Yvonne McNeely, Harvey (Sally) Mews,
Leslie (Janet) Mews, Diana Collins, DuWayne (Joyce) Mews, LuAnn (William) Rueth,
Coleen (Michael) Schultz, Patsy (Daryl) Beining, Tracy (Pamela) Mews, Cindy
Mews, and Ricky (Karen) Mews; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; five
great-greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Harvey Frank Mews Sr.; one
grandchild, Brad Mews; three great-grandchildren: Kyra, Analiese, and Jansen
Fryman, and their father, Eric; three brothers: Deward Knapp, Raymond Knapp and
Clayton Knapp; and one sister, Virginia Nowaczyk.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in
Loyal.
The family would like to thank the staff at Renaissance Assisted Living in
Wisconsin Rapids for the wonderful care Dolores received there and the new
friendships she made with the staff and residents.
