Zocher, Mr. and Mrs. Kurt (Golden - 1979)
Recently, family and friends of Kurt and Emilie Zocher helped celebrate the
couple’s 50th wedding anniversary.
A re-confirmation of vows, with a liturgist Sanford Moldenhauer, a
grandson-in-law, was held at the United Church of Christ near Greenwood,
followed by a reception at the American Legion Hall in Loyal.
Over 160 attended, including Kurt and Emilie’s son, visiting from Connecticut;
one daughter, recently moved from Alaska with her two daughter; and one daughter
from Minnesota with her husband, five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Other states represented were Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, New York and
Florida. Five of the guests were also at the wedding in 1929.
Kurt and Emilie started their life together in Chicago, far from their native
Germany. Kurt worked there until his retirement as technical superintendent of a
yacht yard. At that time, they started a new career as owner-operator of a
dairy-beef farm near Greenwood.
