Richtmyre, Lance Cpl. Brian K. (Service Notes - 1979)
Marine Lance Cpl. Brian K. Richtmyre, son of Dale and Lois Struensee, Rt. 2
Neillsville, recently participated in engineering operations at the Marine Corps
Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, California.
He is a member of combat engineer battalion, stationed at Camp Pendleton,
California. During the six-weeks at Bridgeport, his unit performed a variety of
tasks including the installation and improvement of 25 culverts and associated
road work. This provides better logistical support for training, allows the U.S.
Forest Service use of these routes during the winter months and aids in
controlling runoff during the spring thaw. Additional construction was performed
in the lower base camp area to make the area more habitable and usable on a
year-round basis.
A 1978 graduate of Bible Baptist High School, Richtmyre joined the Marine Corps
in July 1978.
