Scheffer, Robert R. (1 February 1926 – 20 October 1979)

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 23, for Robert R. Scheffer, 53, a former resident of the Humbird area. He died on October 20 in Prairie du Chien. Born in Humbird to Frank and Clara Scheffer on February 1, 1920, Scheffer married Ruby Rommel in Madison ceremonies, October 11, 1952.

Scheffer, a partner in the Prairie du Chien law firm of Scheffer and Queram, received his bachelor’s degree from Marquette University and his law degree from UW-Madison. He also served on the Prairie du Chien city council, school board and library board and was a member of the Cooperative Educational Services Agency board.

Surviving him, besides his wife, are four brothers, Anthony, of Phoenix, Arizona, Bernard of Humbird, Walter of Norman, Oklahoma, and Francis of Mequon, and two sisters, Marian Monnat of Whitefish Bay and Anita Durst of Madison.

Burial was made in the La Crosse Catholic Mausoleum.
