Bladl, Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Golden - 1979)

Paul and Irene Bladl of Owen celebrated their golden wedding anniversary November 3, beginning with a special mass, officiated by the Rev. R. Fliss in Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

The organist was Mrs. Richard Hughes. Vocalists were Paul Bladl, Jr., Mary Kaye Laube and Roger and Ramona Koplitz. Michael Bladl presented a bouquet in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary while his father, Paul, sang “On The Day, O Beautiful Mother” to begin the celebration. Offertory gifts were presented by grandchildren, Susan Bladl and Rodney, Roy and Ralph Koplitz. Guest speaker was a lifelong friend, the Rev. Dale Trimberger, Lutheran chaplain of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, and a Granton native.

Ed Thorson, Minneapolis, organist, and Louise Luedke, Withee, vocalist, entertained at an open house in the church hall following mass. A buffet lunch was served to over 250 guests. Of their original attendants present were Mrs. Anna Zahradka, Granton; Mrs. John Wyer, Ripon, and Mrs. Norman Lynch, Neillsville.

Paul Bladl was born in Chili on November 13, 1906, to Charles and Frances Bladl. Irene Kubat was born in the Town of York, June 20, 1909, to John and Mary Kubat. They were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville, with the Rev. P. Weber officiating. They lived near Neillsville for several years, then moved to Owen where Paul was a representative for the Carnation Milk Company. Later, he became self-employed in the plumbing and heating business. He is semi-retired at the present time. Irene is secretary for the business and takes care of the flowers and garden.

Their family consists of Mrs. Melvin (Patricia) Koplitz, Withee, and Paul, Jr., Moline, Ill. There are eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. One grandchild is deceased.

A special surprise for the couple was the arrival of a photo of Pope John Paul II with a papal blessing, sent from Rome via Irene’s cousin, Irene and Jim Bruce, Ventura, California.

Many Owen-Withee guests were present. Out-of-town guests were from Moline, Ill.; Marshfield; Curtiss; Granton; Neillsville; Greenwood; Milwaukee; Appleton; Waunakee; Plain; Chippewa Falls; Ripon, Merrillan; Wausau; Eau Claire; River Falls; Rib Lake; Abbotsford; Waupaca; Medford; Southport, N.C.; Minneapolis, Mn.; and Greybull, Wyo.
