Prusa, Nell (19 August 1918 – 27 November 1979)
Mrs. Victor (Nell) Prusa, 61, of Carolina Beach, N.C., wife of a former Hatfield
native, died Tuesday, November 27, in New Hanover Hospital, Wilmington, N.C. She
was born August 19, 1918, in Black River, Ark., to Charles and Bessie (Houck)
Metcalf. She was raised in Arkansas and attended nurses training in Banner Elk,
N.C. She married Dr, Victor H. Prusa on November 13, 1940, in Johnson, City,
Tenn.
She was a registered nurse and served as the office nurse for her husband’s
medical practice at Taylorsville, N.C. He died in 1966. For the past 15 years,
she has resided in Carolina Beach, N.C.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Penny) Smith, Alkins Park, Penn; one
son, Joseph, Carolina Beach, N.C.; two brothers, James Metcalf of Statin Island,
N.Y., and Edward Metcalf of Nashville, Tenn.; and two grandsons.
Services were held Saturday morning in the Charles Buswell Funeral Home in Black
River Falls with the Rev. Calvin Carey officiating. Burial was in the Hatfield,
Cemetery.
