Smith, Ted L. (23 August 1905 – 29 November 1979)
Funeral services for Ted L. Smith, 74, of Granton were held Saturday morning,
December 1, from Zion Lutheran Church in Granton with the Rev. Horst Augustin
officiating. The congregation sang “Rock of Ages” and “How Great Thou Art”
accompanied by Mrs. Roger Helm. and burial was made in the church cemetery, and
pallbearers were David Garbisch, Brian and Jeff Smith, Eric Nimmer and Tom and
Ken Lemke. The Gilbertson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith passed away at his home on November 29. He was born on August 23,
1905, in the Town of York, to Loman and Mary (Bundy) Smith; he attended school
in Granton. On November 5, 1926, he wed Emma Elmhorst in Granton ceremonies. The
couple farmed in the Town of York, and he later worked as a carpenter. For the
last 18 years, he lived in the village. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Surviving him besides his wife are four sons, Jerome and Roderick, both of
Marshfield, Richard of Eau Claire and Charles of Milwaukee; one daughter, Mrs.
Edward (Evelyn) Nimmer, West Allis; one brother, Edgar, Freeport, Tex.; one
sister, Winifred Rausch, Barron; and twelve grandchildren.
