Barney, Patrick John (24 September 1930 – 18 August 1994) With Flag
Patrick John Barney, 63, of Humbird, died Thursday August 18, 1994, at the Osseo
Hospital.
He was born September 24, 1930, to James and Helen (Tompkins) Barney in Eau
Claire and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Janet
Roe in 1955 in Eau Claire. He taught in Mondovi, Solon Springs, Webster and
Bloomer before moving to Humbird in 1968. From 1968 until retiring in 1987 he
taught at Black River Falls Correctional Camp. He was a member and commander for
several years of the Humbird American Legion and Member of the Knights of
Columbus of the 4th Degree in Eau Claire and 3rd Degree in Black River Falls,
where he also held several offices.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of Humbird; two sons, Terry (Roxanne) of
Holman, Dan (Polly) of Fairchild; by 4 daughters, Kathy (Mark) Janicki of
Humbird, Patty (Jeff) Boucher of Cincinnati, Oh, Barb Simonis of Black River
Falls, Sue Iverson of Cadott; by his daughter-in-law, Rosemary Barney of Los
Angeles, Calif.; by one brother, William Barney of Northfield; one sister,
Phyllis Huls of Allen Park, Mi., and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents, his brother, Rev. James T. Barney, and son, Mike Barney.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 23, 1994, at 11:00 a.m. at St.
Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fairview, rural Fairchild, with burial in the church
cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home
in Augusta, and one hour before services at the church. Rosary service will be
held at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
