Gehrt, Henry Frederick (3 June 1863 – 15 Aug 1932)
Funeral services for Henry Frederick Gehrt, Levis pioneer who died at the home
of his son, Ed Gehrt, early Monday morning, will be conducted at the Reformed
church here at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. E. H. Vornholt. Burial
will take place at the Neillsville Cemetery.
Mr. Gehrt was born in Germany on June 3,1863 and came to this country at the age
of 25, settling at Waukesha. He was married there in 1882 to Miss Wilhelmina
(Minnie) Luck, who preceded him in death five years ago. They came to Clark
County 43 years ago and purchased the farm (in Town of Levis) now operated by a
son, William, on which Mr. Gehrt lived practically ever since.
Mr. Gehrt leaves seven children: Robert, Milwaukee; Ed and Harry, Pine Valley;
William, Levis; Harriet, now Mrs. E.W. Schuth, Los Angeles; Amanda, now Mrs.
Thomas, Milwaukee, and Claire now Mrs. Ralph Blanteen, Los Angeles.
He had been ill only a few months, having been in perfect health six months ago.
His death was ascribed to Cancer.
