Gehrt, Marie V. (25 October 1896 – 8 June 1982)
Services for Marie V. Gehrt, 85, a resident of Memorial Home the past several
years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Georgas Funeral Home. Mrs. Gehrt died
Tuesday at Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Gary L. Clark, of the United Church of
Christ, will officiate, and burial will follow in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Friday and until service time Saturday at the
funeral home.
The former Marie V. Baumel was born October 25, 1896, at Chicago, to Mr. and
Mrs. Frank (Irene Casper) Baumel. She received her education in Chicago and
worked for her father in a tailor shop. She later moved with her parents to the
Columbia area in Clark County. She was married to Harry C. Gehrt on Sept. 30,
1914, in Neillsville. He died June 8, 1959. They operated farms in the Towns of
Pine Valley and Grant for many years until retiring and moving to Neillsville.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ.
Surviving are three sons, Everett, Loyal; Harland, Granton; Walter, Wisconsin
Rapids; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was deceased by
three brothers, a sister and two grandchildren.

Gehrt, Marie V. (25 October 1896 – 8 June 1982)
Longtime Neillsville area resident, Marie V. Gehrt, 85, passed away in
Neillsville, June 8. She had been a resident of Memorial Home for the past
several years.
The deceased was born October 25, 1896, in Chicago to Frank and Irene (Casper)
Baumel. She received her education in Chicago schools and then worked for her
father in a tailor shop. As a young woman, she moved with her parents to
Columbia in Clark County.
On September 30, 1914, she married Harry C. Gehrt in Neillsville ceremonies. The
couple then farmed in the Towns of Pine Valley and Grant for many years. When
they retired, they moved into Neillsville, where they remained the rest of their
lives. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and was a 50-year member
of the Royal Neighbors.
Surviving her are three sons, Everett of Loyal, Harland of Granton and Walter of
Wisconsin Rapids; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her husband on June 8, 1959, three brothers, a sister and
two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday morning, June 12, from the Gesche Funeral
Home in Neillsville. The Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ
officiated with burial made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Special music for the service was provided by May Peters and Deon Spangler.
Pallbearers were Albert and Ernest Mohr, Clifford Winter, Theamore Vine, Lee
Kapfer and Harold Embke.
Those attending the services from out of town were Mr./Mrs. Walter Gehrt &
children, Mr./Mrs. Harry Gehrt, Jr., & son and Mrs. Robert Gehrt & son, all of
Wisconsin Rapids; Mr./Mrs. Mike Kangas, Nekoosa; Mr./Mrs. Gary Shelton, Pontiac,
Mich.; Mr./Mrs. Everett Gehrt and Mr./Mrs. Carl Gehrt and Lena, all of Loyal;
and Harland Gehrt, Granton.
