Miss Kathleen Samplawski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Samplawski, Stanley,
became the bride of Vincent Walter Pogodzinski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Pogodzinski, Thorp, at St. Hedwig’s Chapel, Thorp, on Saturday, August 11, 1973,
with Father Will Grelle performing the 1:30 p.m. double ring ceremony. Altar
boys were Florian Pogodzinski, the groom’s brother, and Gene Pogodzinski, cousin
of the groom.
Mr. and Mrs. Danny Brown, cousins of the groom, carried the holy gifts to the
altar. Miss Bernice Symbal was organist and Miss Diane Mamayek sang “Let It Be
Me” and “Sunrise, Sunset.”
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full length dress with long
sleeves and a V-neck. The dress was all covered with old fashioned lace. She
wore a short veil with daisy shaped flowers on the headpiece. She carried a
bouquet of yellow roses, white carnations and baby’s breath.
Miss Christine Samplawski was her sister’s maid of honor, and bridesmaids were
Miss Bridget Pogodzinski, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Diane Kodl and Mrs. Ann
Dreke, friends of the bride. They wore long green dresses with long sheer
sleeves. They carried baskets with yellow daisies and baby’s breath.
Sherri Samplawski, niece of the bride, was flower girl. She was dressed like the
bride and carried the same bouquet as the bridesmaids, except a smaller basket.
Jim Wirth, friend of the groom, was best man, and groomsmen were Russell
Pogodzinski, brother of the groom, John Kodl, friend and Gregory Pogodzinski,
brother of the groom. Ushers were: Marvin Samplawski Jr., brother of the bride,
and Danny Brown.
A reception and dance were held at the Quonset Hall, Thorp, and a supper was
served to 350 guests. Mrs. Dan Brown and Mrs. Robert Blanchette cut the cake,
and Mrs. Marvin Samplawski Jr. was in charge of the guest book.
The bride attended Stanley-Boyd High School and the groom attended Thorp High
School and Vocational Tech in Eau Claire.
He served in the U.S. Army and is now a mechanic at Volds, Inc. in Osseo. The
bride has worked at ITT. After a wedding trip to Canada and the Dakotas, they
will reside on route 4, Osseo.
Guests were from: Iowa, Minneapolis, Medford, Chicago, Eau Claire, Lublin, Fall
Creek, Cornell, Wausau, Appleton, Tomahawk, Chippewa, Holcombe, Lublin, Owen,
Withee and Blair.
