Simek, Mary (15 August 1890 – 23 December 1979)

Funeral services were held Thursday morning, December 27, from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville, for Mary Simek, 89, who passed away December 23, in Neillsville Memorial Hospital. A resident of Neillsville Memorial Home since 1978, the deceased was to be buried in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Rev. Joseph Henseler was to officiate.

The deceased was born on August 15, 1890, in Czechoslovakia to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Storek. She came to the United States with her family when she was eleven years old, and the family lived in Chicago. On May 11, 1913, she married Frank Simek in Chicago ceremonies.

The couple lived in Chicago until 1928 when they moved to the Town of York, farming there until 1937 when they moved to Neillsville. In 1967, she moved to Wausau, living with a daughter. In 1978, she moved back to Neillsville, becoming a resident of Memorial Home. She was a member of St. Mary’s parish and its PCCW.

Surviving her is one son, William, Neillsville, one daughter, Mrs. Harold Gault, Wausau, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, January 7, 1968, one brother, and one sister.
