Mitchell, Maynard E. (7 August 1938 – 1 October 2021) With Flag

Maynard E. Mitchell, age 83, of Owen, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Ascension Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Maynard was born on August 7, 1938, the son of Woodrow and Helen (Klapperich) Mitchell in Edson, Chippewa County. He graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1956. Maynard served in the U.S. Army from 1956-58 during the Korean War.

Maynard worked construction in Waukegan, hauled milk for the Longwood Cheese Factory, worked maintenance for Foremost/Kerry and drove school bus for many years. He loved his dogs, hunting deer and enjoyed the Three Stooges.

Maynard is survived by his brother, Sidney of Owen, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Kenny and Norman.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Rev. Elizabeth Bier will officiate. Military Honors provided by the Owen American Legion Post #123, Owen-Withee Vets Club and Lublin American Legion Post #547. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.
