Local Nurses Attend Special Heart Seminar (1980)
Marion Herrick and Donna Polzin, both RN’s and staff nurses at Neillsville
Memorial Hospital, recently attended a week-long seminar on the Swan-Ganz heart
catheter, at the Heart Hospital of the University of Minnesota.
Swan-Ganz catheter used for monitoring the amount of fluid needed in the
patient’s body following a heart attack, congestive heart failure, serious
accident or surgery.
Administration of the Memorial Hospital stated that several other staff nurses
would also be attending the seminars in the future. Dr. Neelagaru, a Neillsville
Clinic cardiologist, is in charge of the local catheter program.
