Brown, Hazel L. (10 August 1889 – 17 January 1980)

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, January 19, for Hazel L. Brown, 90, of Neillsville, who passed away two days earlier in Neillsville Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness. Born on August 10, 1889, in Neillsville to Mr. and Mrs. Allie Lee, the deceased attended Neillsville schools and graduated from Northwest College of Commerce in Neillsville. She then worked for Judge O.W. Schoengarth and for the District Attorney’s office and in (?) was appointed court reporter, working in that capacity until (?), when she married Herbert L. Brown in Waukon, Iowa, ceremonies. Mrs. Brown was a 50-year member of the Carmi Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving her is one son, Walter “Buster” Brown, Neillsville, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1971; one sister and one brother.

The Rev. Gary Clark of the Neillsville United Church of Christ officiated at the service held in the Gesche Funeral Home. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
