Winter, Alma (7 April 1913 – 8 January 1980)
Mrs. Celon (Alma) Winter, 66, passed away in Neillsville Memorial Hospital on
the evening of Tuesday, January 8. A resident of Neillsville, Mrs. Winter’s
funeral was held Friday afternoon, January 11, from Zion Lutheran Church in the
Town of Grant with the Rev. Maynard Stokka officiating. Burial was made in the
church cemetery and the Gilbertson Funeral Home of Granton was in charge of
arrangements.
Alma Winter was born on April 7, 1913, in the Town of Grant, to Herman and
Martha (Ratsch) Scharf. She married Celon Winter on February 19, 1931, in the
Town of Grant and farmed with her husband for a number of years in that area.
She is survived by her husband, one son, Roger, Neillsville, two daughters, Mrs.
William (Virginia) Meiers, Neillsville and Mrs. Arnold (Lavon) Rechsteiner of
New York, seven grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Carl (Clara) Scheeler of
Cazenovia, Mrs. Edna Jahnke and Mrs. Helmuth (Elsie) Winkler, both of Granton,
and one brother, Clarence Scharf, Milwaukee.
Pallbearers for the service included Donald Scharf, Fred and Bruce Winkler,
Richard Winter, Harley Mead and Harold Ewing. Music was provided by Ronald Gluch
with the congregation singing.
