Glassbrenner, Tammy (Miss Neillsville - 1980)
These few moments will be remembered by her for a long time. In fact, her
grandchildren will probably hear about the evening when she was crowned Miss
Neillsville, way back on February 2, 1980, during the community’s annual Winter
Carnival.
Chosen for the year-long-honor was Tammy Glassbrenner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Chuck Glassbrenner, 309 West Twelfth St., Neillsville. A junior in high school.
Tammy was sponsored by the Neillsville Lions Club.
As coronation time approached, around 10:00 p.m., the electricity could be felt
in the air. The present Miss Neillsville, Renee VandeBerg, stood by as the
second runner-up was named, Carmen Ruzic, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Ruzic
and then in was first runner-up time with Susan Mayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Mayer selected.
Finally, it was Tammy’s turn. The shock was almost too much for her but then the
joy of it all came through. The next step was getting the crown and it was time
to relax and smile.
