Schmidt, Clement T. (6 Jun 1927 – 15 Nov 1973)
Clement T. Schmidt, 46, former Thorp resident, now residing in Junction City,
lost his life in a truck accident when his fuel and gasoline transport truck
tipped at Wausau on Thursday, November 13, 1973 and burned.
Clement was born June 6, 1927 at Thorp. He served 4 years in the Navy in World
War II, after which he spent 2 years in California. On January 3, 1951 he was
united in marriage to Jean Fechhelm at St. Lawrence Church, Minneapolis. They
resided in Thorp until 7 years ago, when they moved to Junction City, where he
was owner and operator for Indianhead Trucking, Inc.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 19, 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s
Catholic Church, Junction City, with Rev. Donald Berg officiating. Interment was
made in the parish cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Jean; two sons, David Schmidt of Plover and Daniel at
home; two daughters, Sandy and Sue at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J.
Schmidt, Thorp; two brothers, Clifford Schmidt and Clarence Schmidt, Thorp, and
one sister (Luretta) Mrs. Edwin Wehlacz, Thorp.
One sister, Evelyn Kotecki, preceded him in death.
