Kolodziej, Charles “Chic” (5 Jul 1911 – 3 Jan 1974)
Charles “Chic” Kolodziej, 62, former resident of the Town of Reseburg, who prior
to his death was residing in Chicago, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 1974
at his home.
Born on July 5, 1911, the youngest son of the late Andrew and Josephine
Kolodziej, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Felix. He lived in
the Thorp area most of his early life, served our country in World War II, was
wounded in action in the South Pacific, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He
returned to farming on the family farm following his discharge. Seventeen years
ago he sold his farm and moved to Chicago and spent summers in Thorp with
friends.
The funeral was Monday, January 7 in Chicago from St. John of God Church, and he
was laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery. Pallbearers were Casimer Makowan,
Matthew Makowan, Robert Lopez, Donald Mainiellis, Ray Kaz, Richard Makowan.
He will be sadly remembers by his many friends and neighbors in this community.
