Cook, Lory (2 February 1980)
The Neillsville United Methodist Church was the February 2 evening site for the
wedding of Lory Cook and Bruce VandeBerg. The bride is the daughter of William
and Carol Cook, Rt. 2 Granton, and the groom is the son of Russell and Erline
VandeBerg, Neillsville.
The Rev. William Noble officiated at the service, which was followed by a
reception-dance at the Loyal Legion Hall.
With her parents presenting her to the altar, the bride was attired in a gown
featuring a Queen Anne neckline; full skirt with ruffled hemline; sweeping
chapel train; and picture hat with descending veil. She carried a bouquet of
burgundy roses, white carnations, baby’s breath, pink accenting flowers all
adorned with pink ribbon.
Bonnie Drescher, a Neillsville friend of the couple, was maid of honor. She was
joined in the bride’s party by Marcia VandeBerg, a sister of the groom from
Neillsville, and Coleen Kurth, a classmate of the bride from Marshfield. The
bridesmaids were attired in silky, burgundy-colored gowns, featuring shoulder
wrist slit sleeves and embroidered necklines.
Bernie Jordahl, St. Paul, Mn., was best man. He was joined by Kerry Linbo,
Neillsville and Gary Barth of Marshfield, in the groom’s contingent. Ushering
were Bob VandeBerg. Neillsville, and Mark VandeBerg, Brooklyn Park, Mn., both
brothers of the groom. Jordahl, Linbo, and Barth are friends of the couple. The
groom was attired in a silver and gray tuxedo while the groom’s wore silver
coats with contrasting black vests and pants.
Music at the nuptials was offered by Coreen Armitage of Neillsville and Shirley
Stanley of Eau Claire. Dawn Wesenberg, of Granton, was in charge of the guest
book at the reception.
The groom is a graduate from Neillsville High School and UW-Eau Claire and is
employed by Gritz Harvestore. The bride is a graduate of Granton High School and
employed by Perkins of Marshfield.
The couple were to leave February 18 for a Nevada and California wedding trip.
They are making their home in Marshfield. Prenuptial events included a rehearsal
lunch, hosted by the groom’s parents at their home.
