Stauffacher, Irene (8 January 1901 – 5 March 1980)

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, March 11, from the Zion Lutheran Church, Town of Grant, for Mrs. Irene Stauffacher, 79, who had passed away on Saturday afternoon in the Marshfield Convalescent Center.

The Rev. Maynard Stokka officiated at the service with burial made in the Lynn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Hebert Keuer, Arnold Nitschke, Louie Breseman, Edward Wagner, Keith Bass and Alvin Spaete. Honorary pallbearer was Leland Bass and music was provided by Joann Grassman.

The deceased was born on January 8, 1901, in Kaycee, Wyo., to Ira and Edna (Ackerman) Vruwink. She attended Green Elm School, Wood County Normal and the then Stevens Point Normal. On June 18, 1924, she married Larry Stauffacher in Sherry ceremonies. The couple lived in Sherry until 1926 when they moved to the Town of Lynn. Mrs. Stauffacher was a member of Zion American Lutheran, Town of Grant.

Surviving her are two sons, Harold of Beloit and Walter of Minneapolis; one daughter, Mrs. Grant (Edna Mae) Rose, Granton; one brother, Ira Vruwink, Arpin; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Powell of San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Mary Arnold of Pittsville and Mrs. Ruth Anderson of New York City; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death, April 24, 1957.

The Gilbertson Funeral Home of Granton was in charge of arrangements.
