Horswill, Libbie (25 January 1885 – 6 March 1980)
A resident of Neillsville since 1920, Libbie Horswill, 95, passed away in
Neillsville Memorial Home on Thursday afternoon, March 6. Born on January 25,
1885, in Columbus to Edward and Sophia (Seang) Bowen, the deceased received her
education in that community. As a young girl, she moved with her parents to the
Longwood area. On January 28, 1903, she married, she married Ricard M. Horswill
in Black River Falls ceremonies and the couple resided there for several years
before returning to Longwood and farming until 1920. It was at that time that
they moved to Neillsville. Several years ago, the deceased, due to failing
health, became a resident of Neillsville Memorial Home.
Surviving her is one daughter, Mrs. Laura Wall, West Palm Beach, Florida, two
sons, Hugh of Janesville and Merlin of Hales Corners, fourteen grandchildren,
many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her husband, three sons, one daughter and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, March 8, from the Gesche
Funeral Home in Neillsville with burial in the city cemetery. The Rev. William
Noble of the Neillsville United Methodist Church officiated.
