Teeples, Oscar C. (6 August 1892 – 6 March 1980)

Longtime Hatfield resident, Oscar C. Teeples, 87, died Thursday, March 6, in the Black River Falls Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 6, 1892, in Merrillan to Fred and Gertrude (Olson) Teeples. He married Nellie H. Flood on May 28, 1913, in Wrightsville. He worked at the Mississippi Valley Power House at Hatfield, retiring as a superintendent after 45 years of employment. He was a fire warden in Hatfield for many years. After his retirement, he assisted his daughter, Violet, in numerous business ventures in Hatfield.

He was a member of the Merrillan Masonic Lodge No. 279, F.& A.M., where he was honored recently as a 50-year member. He was also a member of the Black River Falls Rotary Club.

Survivors include a son, Robert, Black River Falls, a daughter, Violet, Hatfield, a half-sister, Elsie Jerome, Mindoro; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, in 1979, a half-brother and a half-sister.

Services were held Sunday afternoon from the Merrillan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Calvin Carey officiating, with burial being made in the Hatfield Cemetery. The Charles Buswell Funeral Home of Black River Falls was in charge of arrangements.
