Roybal, Justine Delana Hill (9 January 1995 – 14 November 2021)
Justine Delana “Nąącge pįį wii” Hill Roybal, age 26, passed away November 14,
2021, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
She was born January 9, 1995, in Minneapolis, MN to John Daniel Roybal and
Annabelle Mildred Hill. After suffering an accident at only eighteen months,
Justine moved to Ladysmith, and was cared for by her loving foster parents, Tom
and Kathy Silvernail for twenty years. She attended the Ladysmith school
district. She later moved to Thorp, where she was cared for by Carrie and Dux
Calo for the past six years. As her disabilities progressed and she was confined
to a wheelchair, Justine continued her education through special classes up
until Covid hit in March 2020.
Justine had a passion for music, enjoyed bright colors and loved to laugh. Her
favorite past-time was listening to pow wow music and Native American Church
Songs. Above all, Justine loved visits from her family, especially when her
sister would bring her nephews to visit. Her face would light up and she
wouldn’t want to say good-bye.
She is survived by her parents, John Daniel Roybal and Annabelle Mildred Hill;
siblings, John, Joanna, James, Jacob and Ryan; grandmother, Julia A. Littlewolf;
her beloved Choka Norman Snake Sr.; Larry Waube, Jodi Waube, and Harry Hill and
many more relatives, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her
grandfather, Harold Hill Sr. and her great grandmother Annabelle Winneshiek
Lowe.
Traditional Native American church services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Tuesday, November 16th at the Mission Community Building with Matthew Mann
officiating. Friends are invited for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time
of service. Burial will follow at Decorah Cemetery.
The Torgerson Funeral Home of Black River Falls is assisting the family with
arrangements.
