Rembleski, Anton & Veronica – Killed in Car-Train Accident (1974)
Anton J. Rembleski, 71, and his wife, Veronica Rembleski, 58, died in a
car-train accident at Gilman on Monday, February 11, 1974. Funeral services will
be held at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, today, Thursday,
February 14, ten a.m., with Father Frederick Brost officiating. Burial will be
made in the Meadowbrook Cemetery.
Anton J. Rembleski was born April 5, 1903 at Thorp, Wis., and moved to Gilman at
an early age. He was married to Veronica Kolasa at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic
Church on July 9, 1935. He was employed as a cheesemaker at Drangle Cheese
Factory in Gilman, Wisconsin.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. (Virginia) Charles Webster, Gilman, 7
grandchildren; four brothers, John of Hanford, Calif., William of Chicago, Louis
of Gilman, Edward of Hastings, Minn.; seven sisters, (Bernice) Mrs. Stanley
Polchinski of Franksville, Wis., (Ann) Mrs. Edward gay of Gilman, Mrs. Frances
Bemann of Milwaukee, (Josephine) Mrs. Frank Markowicz of Chicago, (Mary) Mrs.
Aloise Wilcenski of Gilman, (Caroline) Mrs. Ben Bernig of Medford and Victoria
Rembleski of Owen.
Veronica Kolasa was born February 26, 1915 at Lublin, and when a young girl
moved to Gilman, where she resided the rest of her life. Besides being survived
by the one daughter and 7 grandchildren, she is also survived by one sister,
(Sophie) Mrs. Michael Slama of Billings, Missouri; three step-sisters, Helen
Sieppe, Anna Fijalkiewicz of Milwaukee, and Sophie Niteko of Conrath, Wisconsin.
